The rich man did nothing evil. He lives like a rich man, dresses in purple and has a fine table. He is condemned for what he doesn’t do, because he doesn’t see the poor man at his doorstep.
We are judged by the Lord not only on sin of commission but also on sins of omission. We will be asked: Do we earnestly care for the poor? It will not matter that we went to Mass every day or said 5 Rosaries a day if we did not care for the poor.
This parable is akin to Mat 25 and the story of the Last Judgement. The whole world will be judged on their attitude to
the poor – Christians, Buddhists, Muslims - everybody. Christians will be asked one more question. Do you love and forgive one another?
Do you consistently care for the poor? My answer and yours must be: “Yes”, or nothing can save us at the End!!!! It is time to make the decision now. And by the way, have you noticed that God rewards us even on this earth!!!!
