There are many things to say here. I wonder if you think or you used to think that God is really angry with us and only for Jesus we would be in big trouble. Sometime we blame our teachers for what we thought we heard when we were young. It is a half truth to say God is angry with us. The Scripture clearly says that God so loved the world and that he sent his Son to save the world. God is Love and his only aim throughout history is to offer us salvation, not condemnation. A friend of mine recently shared with me that if God is LOVE there has to be more than one person in the Godhead because love is diffusive of itself!!!
Someone said years ago (I think Augustine) that if you want to know what the Church teaches look at how it prays. We begin Mass with the sign of the Cross in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We greeted one another in the Name of the Trinity. The Opening prayer always is addressed to God and praises Him through Our Lord Jesus Christ in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
The special feast today is to honour God, the Father who loves us from all eternity, the word of God who is God and was made flesh as baby Jesus and died for us, and the Spirit of God who teaches us and reminds us of the things that Jesus said.
Through Jesus and with Him and in Him, all glory and honour to the Father in the unity if the Holy Spirit be all glory forever and ever. Amen.
