Father Bill and I spoke earlier in the year regarding the possibility of a men’s choir and he thought it was a good idea.
I wish to stress firmly from the outset that if the men’s choir gets going it would not in any way replace the existing choir but would sing and practise maybe once a month when or if the existing choir needed a break. The camaraderie would be vibrant and scary.
Presuming the thing is a goer, the hymns sung would be chosen to suit male voices and would probably have more volume than sweetness but would be sung at a lively tempo, possibly not as written, but as a celebration. They would also come mainly from the past, for starters, with words we all know.
If the idea appeals to you, or any other man you wish to bring along, please call me on 0408 016 136 or just turn up at the Muldoon Room on Thursday 16 May at 7pm.
Hopefully yours
John Bowditch
